Oftentimes, those around us have more to teach us through relationship than we have to give them. This July, we will be unpacking God’s heart for neighboring in our The Heart of Being With series. The series will kick off on Sunday, July 1stat 10am with a special bilingual service and potluck. Throughout the month we will learn from guest speakers, participate in discussion times, and apply what we are learning in practical avenues. Let’s learn what the Bible says about coming alongside instead of standing over those we serve. Below is an week-by-week overview. We would love to have you here.
July 1 - 10am - Alejandro Garcia The Biblical Basis for WITH
Pastor Alejandro will start off the series at our outdoor Bilingual Service and Potluck, at our special time of 10am. He'll be diving into what the Bible says about doing life WITH those we serve, rather than just "for" or "to." What are moments or calls in Scripture where we see humility and relationship that we are called to model? He has titled his message: "We Are His Witnesses - Somos Sus Testigos".
July 8 - Ron and Annette Swor Being With ALL Others Through Relationship (Racial Justice)
As we return to our regular times of 9am and 11am (indoors), and share communion together, Pastors Ron and Annette Swor will be sharing. They'll be discussing racial justice in the context of relationship with their message, "Being With ALL Others Through Relationship".
July 15 - Alpha and Monica Hayward Being With Others that Leads to Revival/Transformation
Alpha made a statement last year that instead of continuously praying for revival, you are called to go BE the revival. As a church, we get to learn from Alpha and Monica about what that looks like practically through relationship inside and outside of the church in the context of mutual, life-giving relationships.
July 22 - Joy Strube Being With Others When It's Awkward or Uncomfortable
Engaging our community can be awkward and uncomfortable, but our neighbors are worth the awkwardness. We will dive in and explore passages in Scripture where Jesus was willing to risk the awkward to show radical love and grace.
July 29 - Dr. Karen Fancher Being With Those We Can Learn From
Karen will share her experience of and biblical basis for recognizing the value, worth and gifting of those around you. Oftentimes, we can receive and learn from those we serve even more than we ourselves give. As a congregation, we will learn from Dr. Fancher’s experience in the context of mutual, life-giving relationships in the day-to-day.
